squished fox

A recent look into the search stats on my Etsy page made me think foxes are pretty much second to owls. My fox coasters continue to be the biggest sellers on Etsy and at the fairs. So I thought I should do another fox specifically for phone case printing. Here's a quick peak. Get excited!
The end. :)

OCD Tendencies

If you don't know me in person or maybe not very well, you may not know that I am a little obsessive about organisation.

This morning I woke up, went on the Macbook for the first time in a while to see the chaos which is Tom's desktop. I won't screenshot it incase he is working on some top secret projects, but there are files everywhere. His favorite place to save things is straight to the desktop - from his ai files to booking forms to images saved from the internets. It stresses me out big time. Before I can possibly carry on with my day, I have put everything into folders and moved them off the desktop. Satisfaction.

This is how I roll...

All files in the right place and named accordingly. It's a beautiful thing.

On another level....

If you are a creative, and you don't spend a lot of time looking for inpsiration, there is an 85% chance that you suck. This is my 3rd folder of inspiration with about 2,500 images. I am in the habit of saving every image with the artist's name (if I know it) and then some key words about the image that I like. Such as _squint_teeth. So next time I am drawing a bear and am thinking "what kind of teeth does a bear have when he is squinting", I can find inspiration quickly.

Don't judge me.

Here's some art...

The end.

Feathered Creature

I always have such a struggle to title my drawings or name my painted things. I'm not huge on words in general - I can never remember song lyrics - unlike my strange Mr Tom who knows every word to every song from the 80s and 90s.

Normally I title them something very simple so I can remember which one is which, however this drawing is a little bit different.

It's called 'I can't hear you'. I added some holes into the side of it's head and into one of the horns last minute because I suddenly thought, how is he going to hear the cardinal. And then thought, ' I don't even know what bird's ears look like... have I even ever seen a bird's ear?!?'. I sort of imagine them to be something like a snake's ear. (I have just now googled bird's ears and they are even weirder than I thought... Google it for yourself to satisfy your curiosity)

If you have been following my work for a while, this may remind you of a couple of other drawings. Here and here.

For a while now I've been doing a lot of pen drawings with no colour... Which I love, but I sort of missed paint and colour. I've been obsessing over this artist's work for a while now, loving the way he creates fur texture (he is using spray paint for the most part, but its more about the outcome than the technique).
